Jacquelyn Ramsdell ’44

Jackie Ramsdell Jackie Ramsdell always attributed her keen interest in education and her success at the University of Texas at Austin to the nine years she spent at Saint Mary’s Hall. Looking for a way to recognize the role her alma mater played in her life, Jackie approached Saint Mary’s Hall to discuss a gift in her estate plan to “give back to the school that helped me form my love of education.” Her primary goal was to help make a Saint Mary’s Hall education more affordable for future generations of talented students.

As a result of Jackie’s bequest to Saint Mary’s Hall, the first Sally and Glenn Ramsdell Scholarships, named in memory of her parents, were awarded to students in 2008. Thanks to Jackie’s transformative gift, nearly 100 young men and women, some of whom may not have been able to attend Saint Mary’s Hall without the scholarship, have been able to attend the school that meant so much to her. Although Jackie passed away in 2006, her generous gift to Saint Mary’s Hall will help attract and retain talented students for many years to come.
