Susan Maria Jones Gresham DavidgeSusan Maria Jones Gresham Davidge ’41 entered Saint Mary’s Hall in 1930. During her 11 years at our school, Susan set a powerful example for future generations of Saint Mary’s Hall students. Her strong commitment to academics and the arts, as well as her leadership and deep involvement in numerous student organizations, paved a path of civic involvement that Susan would follow through her years at Vassar College and until her passing in 1989. In 2016, to honor his sister and recognize the important part Saint Mary’s Hall plays in the South Texas educational community, Rupert Neely Gresham, Jr. established the Susan Gresham Davidge Scholarship to make a Saint Mary’s Hall education possible for two students based not on financial need, but academic and personal promise. Within the next few years, talented students began receiving scholarships thanks to Rupert’s very generous bequest.
