Ruth Taylor Campbell ’36

Ruth Taylor Campbell A 1936 graduate of Saint Mary’s Hall, Ruth Taylor Campbell was a generous supporter of our school for her entire life. In 1987, Ruth and her husband, Major General Daniel S. Campbell, established a scholarship that would become the foundation of Saint Mary’s Hall’s student recruitment efforts. Each year, after rigorous testing and interviews, two rising freshmen receive the Major General Daniel S. and Ruth Taylor Campbell Scholarship. Recipients of the four-year, full-tuition Campbell Scholarship are recognized by members of the Saint Mary’s Hall community as the “best and brightest” of the student body. These students distinguish themselves through their strong campus leadership and service to the community. After graduation from Saint Mary’s Hall, Campbell Scholars often enroll in some of our nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities. Today, past Campbell Scholars are pursuing careers in medicine, law, the arts, business, education, and public service.
